We, the midwives and doctors, will help take care of you and your baby throughout these happy months. The typical schedule of visits is every 4 weeks from 8 weeks until 28 weeks then every 2 weeks from 28-35 weeks then every week from 36 weeks until delivery. For our patients with pre-existing medical conditions or developing high-risk pregnancy conditions, we may like to see you even more often. You may also need to be seen outside these routine visits if you have new concerns that cannot wait.
We offer childbirth education classes as well as breastfeeding classes. These can easily be scheduled during your pregnancy.
We offer obstetric ultrasounds in our office to screen for genetic as well as physical conditions. Your first ultrasound is generally in the first trimester, at 12 weeks. There is then a detailed anatomy surveillance ultrasound at 20 weeks. It is sometimes necessary to have other ultrasounds during your pregnancy, sometimes earlier in the pregnancy and sometimes later in your third trimester. More frequent ultrasounds are often needed for high risk conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes.
And our ultrasound technicians are accredited by the American College of Radiology.
Post Natal Care
Caring for a new baby is challenging in so many ways. Our practice recognizes that many women need to be seen before their standard 6 week post-partum check-up. Many times, we would like to see you sooner to check your blood pressure or to ensure that coping with motherhood is going well. Sometimes patients need to be seen for breastfeeding concerns, persistent feelings of baby blues or postpartum depression, or concerns about pain and healing. We have also found that many patients benefit from pelvic floor evaluation and physical therapy and can help coordinate this care as well.
If concerns arise in the postpartum period, we encourage you to reach out and make an appointment to be seen much sooner than your scheduled appointment.
