Abigail Rauf, NP

Licensed Midwife located in Albany, NY

About Abigail Rauf, LM, CNM

Born and raised in the capital region, my desire to work in the medical field began at a young age. I found after a year away at a local university, that the road I would travel would be through a nursing degree. While in my early years of clinical rotations, I found my passion not only for birth, but for Midwifery. I decided after my first experience with birth that my track from there would lead me to become a midwife.

I spent my years working as a nurse providing postpartum care to mothers and babies as well as care in the Labor and Delivery unit all while pursuing my dream to become a midwife. In the meantime, I began my own journey with pregnancy, labor, birth, and lactation which gave me a deeper understanding of women’s health.

I have spent the past two years working in Schenectady, NY providing comprehensive midwifery care to women across the lifespan including labor support and attending births at an area hospital. Through my journey to motherhood and my experience as a midwife so far, a deep love for postpartum support-particularly for those women affected by postpartum depression/anxiety, as well as adolescent-postmenopausal GYN care and sexual health has grown inside me.

I spend my spare time with my young daughter, making it a priority to teach her about the ever-important role we have as women in our society. As a family, we enjoy practicing yoga, gardening, hiking, kayaking and camping with our dogs.
